Armin.
A barista for 14 years. Host at Stadtcafé on Maria-Theresien-Straße.
Good coffee is no accident. It is the same care, every morning.
Armin has been standing behind the portafilter machine for 14 years. He has learnt that an espresso doesn’t depend on the bean alone, but on the grind, the temperature, the seconds – and on tasting it afresh every single day.
At Stadtcafé he brings that craft together with what makes a coffee house: you come in for an espresso and stay for a slice of cake. People remember you. And if you have a question – about the bean, the milk, the cake – you get an honest answer.
The cabinet fills up again every morning, and in the evening the spritz comes out on the counter. In between, Armin is there.
What matters to Armin
The grinder first.
Every morning the grind is set afresh, until the espresso runs just as it should.
A full cabinet.
Fresh every day and never quite the same: from apple cake to cheesecake to carrot cake.
Guests by name.
Come often enough, and one day you won’t need to order your coffee any more.
